How are you?
I have been away from all of this for so long, and I am easing my way back into it all. Thanks for joining me.
First of all, I'd like to welcome you to my posh, new, shiny website. It has taken ages to do, but it is looking lovely and I hope you like it as much as I do.
Secondly, The VIP Project. What a journey that was. I had to hide away because I fell into an almighty slump and lost my way a bit. Then I went to Glastonbury and fell into another slump. I took some time off and slept loads. Then I started looking for a job and got a pretty great job working of a charity that is very close to my heart. Life seemed to be back on the up. The same week I started the new job, I was hit with a devastating blow. A very good friend of mine took her own life.
She took a chunk of me with her. Trying to get that chunk back is what I have been trying to do for the last few months. It is a slow process, but I'm buffering...
In an attempt to save my sanity, I have been recording my debut EP. We are 2 songs in, with 1 or 2 to go, I can't quite decide. I have set myself a target finish date. There will be more on that soon.
It has been really exciting recording my EP. It is being produced by Michael Clarke, he is one of my favourite people (don't tell him), and I love working with him. We have worked on other projects together before, but it has felt a bit odd working with him, on my own stuff.
I have been aiming for perfection, which is exhausting and impossible. Now i'm aiming for something realistic; authenticity. Sometimes it felt like I was aiming to sound like this artist, or like that artist and I wasn't happy with how it sounded. We had to make some changes.
Being in the studio, your music really is put under the microscope and there are times where you feel like your the dog and other times you feel like your the lamppost. Michael has helped me find the balance. The Dogpost. Now we're at a point where I love what we have created. I can't wait for you to hear it.
I feel I have spoken far too much about what i am doing, but no one is hearing anything. The good news is that is about to change...
If you sign up to my mailing list, you'll get a free acoustic version of my debut single 'Show You What I'm Made Of'. Make sure you sign up!
And talking of my debut single...I have some news coming on that very very very soon!
Thanks for reading.
